My favorite place to observe and photograph Elk is Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Yellowstone National Park is another great spot. In the Fall the “Rut” takes place and the males line up to do battle for the rights to service the ladies. The Bugle calls are famous and when you attempt to photograph the Bulls I suggest you do so from your car window. Those pointy things on their head could ruin your day. Also never use a flash in the evening as they could charge and poke holes in your car. If you are real brave take to foot in the field of battle and remember your relatives could also develop your images after your funeral.
